Before contacting a contractor for pricing on your new construction or addition project.
Submit your architectural drawings to your local city building department for approval.
More often than not, the city will request changes to be made to your plans.
Submitting your plans to the city first is advantageous because you will have a realistic quote for comparison between your contractors.
This will enable you to choose your contractor based on accurate pricing and avoid price surprises later in the project.
